How to get here: it is advisable to fly to the city of Calafate, which has its own International Airport (2,800 km from Buenos Aires).

Climate: dry, cold and usually very windy. Even in summer temperatures can be very low. The average temperature in summer is 15ºC and in winter -2ºC.
Ideal time of the year: October through March.
Recommended length of stay: 3 to 4 days.
Recommended clothing: warm clothes (preferably in layers so you can adapt to the climate changes). Taking a waterproof jacket or windbreaker is a must.
What to do: go sailing, trekking or kayaking; stay at tourist ranches; visit archeological sites; go snowshoeing; take 4x4 rides; visit the Ice Museum.
Tips: if you go by car, check the condition of the roads, which may be covered with snow or ice and require the use of chains. For ice-cream lovers, trying the “Calafate” taste is a must.
