Islas de Santa Fe National Park

Almost three thousand hectares of unspoiled delta are waiting for you amidst the islands embraced by the Paraná River.

Can you picture a natural environment shaped by the waters of a mighty river? Get on a motorboat and let your journey flow along this national park made up by eight islands. There, you will be surrounded by the typical vegetation of the Paraná forest: grasslands and climbing dayflowers, rushes and rubber trees, alyssums and the national flower: the classic cockspur coral tree flower. Meet the local wildlife: mammals like capybaras and neotropical otters; birds like Southern screamers, purple gallinules, moorhens and Northern jacanas; reptiles such as broad-snouted caimans, Hilaire’s toadhead turtles and painted turtles. In the water, follow the trail of bogas, streaked prochilods and wolf fish. You can also visit Puerto Gaboto, the village that honors the first explorer who ventured into the area. How to get there: by water (motorboat) from Puerto Gaboto pier, located about 65 kilometers from the city of Rosario and 110 kilometers from the city of Santa Fe. You can get there by the highway that joins both cities and Ruta Provincial 95.

Area: 4,096 hectares.

Climate: warm and humid. Average temperatures range between 23ºC in summer (with highs over 40ºC) and 13°C in winter (with occasional frosts).

Recommended length of stay: 1 to 2 days.

What to do: motorboat rides and wildlife watching. 

Tips: the ideal season to visit the area is April through June and September through November, because of the pleasant temperatures during the day and the cool climate at night.
