A mythical volcano standing out over 3,600 meters high. A world of cascades and waterfalls, of rivers and glacier lakes flowing at the foot of the Andes mountain range. Walk a land showcasing a large botanic diversity. Discover plants, herbs, and endemic bushes. Take a deep breath amid pehuén, raulí, and roble beech forests. Follow the tracks of over two hundred species of native vertebrates: the puma and the zorro, the marsupial and the colocolo opossum, the condor and the ochre-flanked tapaculo, the red-tailed eaglet and the white-crested elaenia. A world of life awaits in the province of Neuquén.

How to get there: By land, access the different areas of the park from the cities of San Martín de los Andes, Junín de los Andes, and Aluminé, which are connected by bus to almost the whole country.

Area: 412,013 hectares.

Altitude: Between 900 and 1,900 meters above sea level (average). Climate: Warm and humid, with snowfall in winter.

Recommended length of stay: 1 to 4 days.

Recommended clothing and gear: Warm clothes. Technical wear, in case you practice any sport.

What to do: Trekking, mountain climbing, biking, hiking, and wildlife watching.

Tips: Take into account that there is no telephone service in the area.
