How to get here: by bus or car via Ruta Nacional 68 from Salta Capital City (183 km) or Ruta Nacional 40 from the South.

Altitude: 1,683 meters above sea level.
Climate: semi-arid, warm and cold, with wide temperature ranges between day and night.
Ideal time of the year: April to November
Recommended length of stay: 2 to 4 days.
Recommended clothing: in winter take warm clothes. In summer, a light jacket to wear at night will be enough. Also take comfortable preferably light-colored clothes, repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat.
What to do: take a ride along the Wine Route, visit wineries and vineyards, the Museum of Grapevine and Wine, the Quebrada de las Conchas Natural Reserve, the Devil’s Throat, the Amphitheater, the Lerma Valley, the cave paintings.
Tips: get around the town, visit the main square with its most important buildings and the Paseo de los Artesanos [Craft Fair]. Taste the food, the famous salteñas, humitas, tamales, locro, cayote jam and wine-flavored ice-cream. Among its most famous events is the National Serenade Fest.
