10 December 2024

Iguazú Falls, the jungle, or Moconá in the province of Misiones; the Perito Moreno Glacier and the mystique of Patagonia in El Calafate, Santa Cruz province. In this article, we tell you everything you can do in these great destinations in Argentina.

275 waterfalls, a national park that encompasses everything, and nature more alive than ever. Iguazú Falls are not only breathtaking, but they are also magical and adventurous. That's why, in 2011, they were declared one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

254 square kilometers of ice, walkways that offer the perfect front-row view, and Lake Argentino as a perfect witness. This is the world-renowned Perito Moreno Glacier, the most famous in Los Glaciares National Park, located 80 kilometers from El Calafate, in the southwest of Santa Cruz Province.

These authentic natural wonders are part of Argentina's top tourist attractions. But there’s much more to see in Misiones and Patagonia.

What to do, what to eat, where to sleep… here’s the best information.

What to Do in Misiones, Argentina

Visit to Iguazú National Park:

We recommend spending two days here to relax and truly experience it. On the first day, you can take the Lower Circuit, have lunch, and finish with the Upper Circuit. On the second day, we suggest doing the Great Adventure in the morning, followed by lunch, and ending with the jewel of the park: the Devil's Throat, the most impressive spot in the park.

The Great Adventure:

Pure adrenaline! A small boat will take you along the Iguazú River to… the waterfalls themselves!!! The sacred water falls into the boat, and everyone laughs, cries from emotion, and has the time of their lives. Don’t worry about your belongings: the activity leaders provide waterproof bags to keep your things safe and dry.

Moconá Falls:

Just a few minutes from El Soberbio, the nearest town, these falls are the perfect "B-side" to Iguazú Falls. With an average height of 2 to 4 meters (at times reaching 10 meters), the boat ride along the Uruguay River lets you enjoy the 3 kilometers of Moconá Falls, a geological fault parallel to the river.

  • How to Get to Moconá:

From Buenos Aires, you can take a flight to Posadas, the capital of Misiones (there are daily flights), and then drive. The route takes you east through National Route 12. After reaching Santa Ana, it connects with Provincial Route 103, which leads to Provincial Route 2 until you reach your destination. It takes a little over 4 hours along a beautiful road.

Posadas, Misiones:

The provincial capital, the most populous city, and the main administrative center, also boasts a fabulous waterfront to explore from end to end. Another highlight is the Convention Center, as the city is an important venue for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.
